It's official: What will soon be Colorado's largest battery manufacturing plant is coming to Brighton.

Brighton's city council made a major move on Tuesday night towards bringing a gigantic lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant to Colorado, approving a package of economic incentives for Amprius Technologies.

Loveland-based Lightning eMotors, which manufactures and sells electric commercial vehicles, has achieved certification that makes more of its products eligible for federal funds and tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act.

The proposed legislation wouldn't cap how much ride-hailing or delivery companies like DoorDash could take for each trip, but it would allow drivers to make more informed decisions before they accept rides, bill sponsors say.
